The BYD Fang Cheng Bao Formula S electric liftback reached its first customers in China on 28 September 2026, completing a rapid 12-day transition from domestic market launch on 16 September to customer deliveries. The sporty liftback offers up to 900 km of CLTC-rated electric range with nine-minute 10–97% flash charging capability.
Formula S models come in three powertrain configurations. The entry variant features a 76.744 kWh LFP battery and a single electric motor producing 245 kW (329 hp), delivering 720 km CLTC range. The long-range variant uses a 92.093 kWh LFP pack with a 300 kW (402 hp) motor, achieving 830–900 km CLTC range depending on specification. A dual-motor all-wheel-drive option provides 490 kW (657 hp) total output.
Dimensions measure 5,060 mm in length, 1,967 mm in width, and 1,483 mm in height with a 2,960 mm wheelbase. External design highlights include teardrop-shaped headlamps, active air intake, a roof-mounted LiDAR unit, semi-hidden door handles, and a sporty rear diffuser.
The interior incorporates a large touchscreen display, a gear selector positioned behind a three-spoke double-D steering wheel, and a center console housing wireless phone charging, physical control buttons, and cup holders. Additional features include sportily styled front seats, an LCD instrument cluster, and a head-up display. The vehicle features an electromagnetic suspension system and zero-gravity mode for the front passenger seat.
Equipped with the DiPilot 300 assisted driving system featuring Navigate On Autopilot capabilities, the Formula S directly competes with the Xiaomi SU7 sedan in China's premium electric liftback segment.
